Quick and easy mango passionfruit smoothie smoothie, made with fresh mango, passionfruit and nectarine, and absolutely no bananas! Perfect to grab and go on busy mornings!
The Crumbs and Corkscrews household has been feeling a slightly more healthier place over the last couple of months.
The healthy eating has been ramped up, despite the amount of cakes and sweet treats that have been leaving the kitchen (most have been destined for family, friends and colleagues) and the exercise has gone into overdrive (if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know how much I love my new bike).
We’re not dieting, although I’m still sticking to my Weight Watchers plan and crikey if Ian was to diet, he’d waste away; we’re just trying to be a bit more healthier than normal.
Along the way, I’ve been trying to experiment a little more with smoothies; the biggest problem that I find is that most off the shelf smoothies are bulked out and thickened with bananas… not the best thing when you’ve a banana allergy!
So I’ve been blitzing and blending all manner of fabulous fruits; the brighter the better. I’ve not been able to bring myself to go down the whole green smoothie route; there’s just some green things, usually bright green, that I can’t bring myself to eat.. green smoothies and the Snail Porridge at The Fat Duck (seriously, as fantastic as the whole experience was, the snail porridge I just couldn’t do it, it was too green).
Helping me along the road to smoothie heaven is my new little friend; he’s been part of the family for a couple of weeks now and he’s fitted in just fine. Welcome Optimum 9400!
He sounds a bit like a Transformer, a Good Guy Autobot of course; but actually he’s a super duper blender from Froothie, and I love him!
Whilst the Optimum can handle everything from strawberries to paving slabs; I’ve been mainly blitzing fruit, some protein shakes and indulging in my caffeine addiction with skinny caramel frappuccinos.
They’ll all be coming up soon. But I also want to but the Optimum to the test with a load of other things it can do including:
- Making sauces, dips ands alsas
- Blitzing up cocktails
- Making airy chocolate mousses
- Making fresh soups
- Making ice cream and sorbets
- Kneading dough… yes dough
- Whipping up cream and custards
And if you’re not a nut allergy weird like me, it can also
- Grind nuts to a flour
- Or to a dairy free paste or milk
And so, so much more….
I’m pretty excited to get blitzing and blending more and more with the Optimum, I really want to put it to the test and try new things and flavours!
I’ve been through several cheaper blenders and smoothie makers in my time, I burn those little motors into the ground; but there’s no fear of doing that with this beauty, it is so powerful.
And lastly, my most favourite, favourite thing about the Optimum is that it’s the most simplest thing to wash up; a quick squeeze of washing up liquid in the jug, add hot water and turn it up high, blitz the washing up, rinse and that’s it… done!
So when you’ve finished drooling over the beautiful Optimum 9400, here’s a little something to add to your recipe list!

That looks gorgeous Louise. I can admit to adding bananas to most of my smoothies. It makes them nice and sweet for Cooper and I can even get away with adding veg if I add a banana. Shame you are allergic, but there are so many great fruits and veg to add, you’ll never be stuck. Glad you are enjoying the 9400.
Sounds delicious. I am not a banana fan, although I will tolerate them as a frozen addition – but just a smidge. There are very few of us not adding banana, so yay us! I too have used passion fruit in my latest Froothie smoothie, but more because I was testing it against my Vitamix (yes, spoiled). But I also added kale too! Have fun concocting in your lovely machine.
This smoothie sounds lovely Lou! I’m really fussy with smoothies because I’m scared I’ll come across a lump of slimy banana, but I should be safe with this one! Thank you x
